Front-end AI tools

Giving website visitors AI features with Aimogen Pro, the shortcodes available, and the controls to configure before publishing them.

Several Aimogen Pro shortcodes give visitors direct access to AI. Used well, they are a genuine feature. Used carelessly, they are an open invitation to spend your API budget.

This tutorial was recorded before Aiomatic was renamed to Aimogen Pro. Some labels or interface elements may differ slightly from the current version.

Before you publish any of them#

1. Usage limits. System & Logs › AI Usage Limits. Set Max Guest Credits and Max User Credits, with a time frame. Credits can be counted as queries, tokens or price.

2. Per-shortcode caps. Many shortcodes accept user_token_cap_per_day:

[aimogen-image-generator-form user_token_cap_per_day="5000"]

3. Rate limiting. For the chatbot, AI Chatbot › Limitations › Limit User Messages - Max Requests / Time Window.

4. Login requirement. Setting Max Guest Credits to zero makes a tool effectively login-only. [aimogen_post_creator] and [aimogen_user_remote_chatbot] already require login.

5. A provider spend cap. In each provider dashboard. This is the only limit that cannot be defeated by a plugin misconfiguration.

Showing credits to users#

[aimogen-user-remaining-credits-text]
[aimogen-user-remaining-credits-bar]

Both accept id and userid. Showing a balance makes limits feel like a fair allowance rather than an arbitrary refusal.

Membership integration#

Credit allowances integrate with Ultimate Membership Pro, Restrict Content Pro and Paid Memberships Pro, so a subscription plan can grant credits. Usage resets on renewal.

That combination — membership plan, credit allowance, front-end tools — is the basis for selling AI features as a subscription. See Membership plugins.

Which tools are safe to publish#

ToolRiskNotes
ChatbotModerateWell-controlled: rate limits, moderation, credits
Text formsModerateCap length and submissions
AI FormsModerateSame, plus the form-specific caps
Image generationHigherEach request costs meaningfully more than text
Video generationHighestVery expensive per request
Audio transcriptionModerateAlso accepts file uploads
Post creatorLogin onlyCreates content on your site
Remote chatbotLogin onlyBilled against user credits

Video generation on an unauthenticated public page is difficult to justify. Everything else is manageable with limits.

Content and moderation#

Visitors will type things you did not anticipate. Consider:

  • Moderation on chat input — see Moderation, GDPR and limits
  • Blocked words
  • A disclaimer stating results are AI-generated and may be inaccurate
  • Not storing submissions, or setting a retention period, if you do not need them

Prompt templates#

Several form shortcodes accept prompt_templates and prompt_editable. Offering templates rather than a blank box produces better results and fewer wasted requests, because visitors start from something that works.

Common problems#

The tool shows a limit message immediately. Guest credits are zero or exhausted. Check System & Logs › AI Usage Limits.

Nothing happens on submit. admin-ajax.php is blocked, or the AJAX response is cached. See Plugin and server conflicts.

Costs spiked. Check System & Logs › Usage Logs by user and by environment to find which tool and which visitor. Then set the limits you did not set.

Still stuck? Open a support ticket and include the diagnostics from Aimogen Pro › System & Logs › System Info.
