Writing prompts in Aimogen Pro
How prompts work across Aimogen Pro, where each kind of prompt lives, and the conventions shared by all of them.
Almost everything Aimogen Pro produces is shaped by a prompt you control. There are dozens of prompt fields across the plugin, and they all share the same conventions.
In this section#
Where prompts live#
| Prompt | Where |
|---|---|
| Title, sections, intro, content, Q&A, conclusion, excerpt | Each bulk rule, separately |
| Categories, tags, custom fields, comments, SEO fields | The same rule, separately again |
| Featured image, in-article images | The rule image prompts |
| Editing prompts per element | An editor template |
| Bot Context | Chatbot configuration |
| Agent description and expertise | The agent |
| Block prompts | Each OmniBlock |
| Form prompts | Each AI Form |
| Inline prompts | [aicontent] |
| Global defaults | Settings › AI Writer |
The granularity is the point. When output is wrong, change the prompt for the stage that produced it.
Two levers apply everywhere#
Global prompt modifiers. Most rules have Prepend Text To All Textual AI Prompts and
Append Text To All Textual AI Prompts. Put house style and formatting constraints there once, rather
than repeating them in seven prompt fields. The chatbot has the same pair.
Regex post-processing. Run Regex On Prompts and Run Regex On Content let you rewrite prompts
before sending and output after receiving. The content regex is the standard way to strip a phrase a model
insists on adding.
What resolves inside a prompt field#
Prompt fields are not plain text. Before a prompt is sent, the plugin resolves:
| Syntax | Becomes |
|---|---|
%%placeholder%% | Contextual values. See Placeholder reference |
{a|b|c} | One option at random. See Spintax |
[aicontent]…[/aicontent] | AI-generated text, nested inside the prompt |
| Any WordPress shortcode | Its output |
| Custom shortcodes defined on the rule | Their values |
That last one is worth knowing about: the Custom Shortcode Creator on a rule lets you define your own
%%name%% values, optionally AI-generated, usable in every prompt in that rule.
System prompts versus user prompts#
Aimogen Pro does not present a strict system/user split in most places. The distinction that matters:
Persistent instructions — who the AI is, what it must never do. The chatbot Bot Context, an agent Description, or the global prepend field.
Per-request instructions — what to produce now. The individual stage prompts.
Put durable rules in the persistent slot. Repeating "write in British English" in twelve prompt fields is twelve places to forget to update.
Prompt templates#
Several features offer reusable prompts:
- Prompt Library in the AI Playground
- Prompt Templates in the chatbot and in form shortcodes, selectable by visitors
- Rule templates and editor templates, which carry all prompts together
