The Quick Setup Wizard

What each step of the Aimogen Pro Quick Setup Wizard does, when it runs, how to skip or re-run it, and which settings it actually writes.

The Quick Setup Wizard walks a new install through the decisions that matter, writes them into the normal settings options, and hands you a working configuration. Nothing it does is exclusive to the wizard — you can set the same values later from Settings.

When it runs#

On the first admin page load after activation, an administrator with the access_aiomatic_menu capability is redirected into the wizard. The plugin tracks the state in the aiomatic_setup_wizard_ran option:

ValueMeaning
0Never run. The next admin request redirects into the wizard
1Skipped or cancelled. The wizard will not run again on its own
2In progress
3Completed

The wizard is skipped entirely on network admin screens, during multi-plugin activation, and on demo servers. It is also marked as already-run if an OpenAI key is already present in settings, so upgrading an existing site does not drop you into a wizard.

Skipping and re-running#

To skip: use the Skip control in the wizard, or append &skip_config=1 to any admin URL.

To run it again later, open Aimogen Pro › Settings › Tutorial and use the setup link, or revoke and re-activate the licence (revoking resets the flag). The wizard writes to the same options as the settings screens, so re-running it will overwrite the choices it covers.

The steps#

Steps are added or removed based on your Workspace selection: if you turn a feature area off, its wizard step disappears.

1. Welcome#

Orientation only. Links to the two tutorial playlists and the basic tutorial video. Nothing is saved.

2. Workspace#

Choose which feature areas you want visible. This writes aiomatic_default_workspace and drives both the admin menu and the remaining wizard steps. A site that only needs a chatbot can switch everything else off here and get a much smaller admin.

See Workspace: tailoring the menu.

3. Activation#

Enter the purchase code if you have not already. Same behaviour as Activation and licensing.

4. API Keys#

The important step. Add at least one provider key. The wizard offers the same fields as Settings › API Keys, with a Test API key button next to each so you get immediate confirmation rather than a failure hours later during a scheduled run.

See AI providers for what each key unlocks.

5. Content#

Defaults for the content creators: which model writes articles, the default post type and status, and whether images are generated. Writes into aiomatic_Main_Settings and the bulk-post defaults.

There is also a generate a first draft post action here: enter a keyword and the wizard produces one draft so you can confirm the whole pipeline works before building rules.

6. Editor#

Defaults for the AI Content Editor: the model used for editing, and whether automatic editing is on.

7. Agents#

Whether AI Agents are enabled and which model they use.

8. Chatbot#

Bot name, description, initial message and model. This is the fastest way to get a usable chatbot; Chatbot quick start covers the same ground in more detail.

9. Forms#

Whether AI Forms are enabled and their defaults.

10. Playground#

Introduces the AI Playground so you have somewhere to test prompts.

11. More#

Optional extras: the Content Wizard, comment replier, taxonomy descriptions and similar. See More AI tools.

12. Ready#

A summary with links into the areas you enabled. Completing this step sets aiomatic_setup_wizard_ran to 3.

What the wizard does not do#

  • It does not create rules, chatbots, agents or workflows for you beyond the optional first draft post.
  • It does not enable scheduled posting. Rules stay inactive until you enable them.
  • It does not send any data anywhere except the provider you configure and the licence verification service.
