What it writes#

Automatic processing#

Run Taxonomy Description Writing starts the batch.
Don't Process Empty Taxonomies is usually right: a term with no posts has no archive worth describing,
and the model has nothing to describe it from.

A description prompt:

Modest but real value:
- Users get context on an archive page that would otherwise be a bare list.
- Search engines get some text to work with on a page that is otherwise navigational.
Do not expect archive pages to rank strongly on the strength of a description. If a category archive is genuinely worth ranking, it usually deserves a proper editorial page rather than a generated paragraph.
Common problems#
Descriptions are not saved
The taxonomy is not in the automatic list, or Process Also Taxonomies Which Already Have A Description
is off and the term already had one.
SEO fields are empty No supported SEO plugin is active. See SEO plugins.
Custom taxonomy not offered Only registered taxonomies appear. Register it before its terms can be processed.
Descriptions all sound the same
The prompt is too generic. Reference %%term_name%% prominently and ask for something specific to it.
