SEO titles, descriptions and taxonomies

How Aimogen Pro generates SEO meta titles and descriptions, which SEO plugins it writes to, and how taxonomy SEO fields are handled.

Aimogen Pro writes SEO metadata directly into whichever supported SEO plugin is active, so the fields appear in that plugin interface exactly as if you had typed them.

Supported SEO plugins#

Detection is automatic, in this priority order. The first active plugin wins.

PluginDescription meta key
Yoast SEO_yoast_wpseo_metadesc
All in One SEO_aioseo_description
Rank Mathrank_math_description
The SEO Framework_genesis_description
SEOPress_seopress_titles_desc
Squirrly SEO_sq_description

Focus keywords are written where the plugin supports them — _yoast_wpseo_focuskw for Yoast, _sq_keywords for Squirrly, and the equivalents elsewhere.

If no supported SEO plugin is active, generated SEO fields have nowhere to go and are skipped. The post excerpt is still written, and many themes use that as the meta description fallback.

The post title and the SEO title are different things. The post title is what readers see on the page; the SEO title is what appears in search results. They can and often should differ.

Writing good prompts#

Meta descriptions have a specific job: earn the click. They are not summaries.

Write a meta description for an article titled "%%post_title%%".

Article content: %%post_content_plain_text%%

Requirements:
- Maximum 155 characters
- Include the main topic naturally in the first half
- State the specific benefit to the reader
- End with an implicit reason to click
- No quotation marks, no "In this article", no "Learn more about"
- Plain text only

For SEO titles:

Write an SEO title for "%%post_title%%".

Maximum 60 characters. Front-load the main keyword. Make it more specific than
the post title. No clickbait, no ALL CAPS, no year unless the content is
year-specific. Plain text only.

Taxonomy SEO#

Aimogen Pro can write descriptions and SEO fields for categories, tags and custom taxonomy terms — the archive pages that normally sit empty.

Honest expectations#

Aimogen Pro fills SEO fields well. It does not do SEO.

Rankings depend on content quality, topical authority, site architecture, links and user behaviour. A well-written meta description improves click-through on a result you already rank for; it does not create the ranking.

Publishing large volumes of thin AI content with perfect meta tags is a known way to be penalised. Use the AI Content Editor to improve substance, not just metadata.

Common problems#

SEO fields stay empty No supported SEO plugin is active, or the SEO settings are off in the rule.

Descriptions are truncated in search results Over 155 characters. Set the character-count limit.

Fields written to the wrong plugin Two SEO plugins are active. Deactivate one.

Rank Math shows the field as empty until saved Rank Math caches its analysis. Re-saving the post refreshes it.
