Unless you have a job that allows you to telecommute, the idea of earning money online isn’t new, but uncharted territory for many. A lot more people are finding ways to make part-time income using the Web. Whenever you have off-time from work and are bored, you can do a variety of tasks that can earn you a few dollars. Some ideas won’t pay your rent, but it could easily be used to put gas in your tank to get you back and forth from work. You may even find something that will be a winner, allowing you to quit your day job. Making money in your spare time and potentially turning it into a part-time or full-time career is very possible.
Typical Online Tasks that Earn You a Couple of Dollars
There are a variety of things you can do online to help you with your Starbucks spending habits, like taking online surveys, writing reviews for products on Amazon, being a Web site tester and answering questions on sites like FixYa. Now, you can’t expect to quit your day job with these odd jobs, but they can be used to supplement small expenses you may have, such as your cell phone bill or going out to a movie.
In most cases, you won’t find consistent work with these jobs, but when the opportunity arises and you’re bored with nothing to do, you can take them up and earn some extra cash. You can also participate in university studies/focus groups and earn yourself a quick $100 in under an hour.
Quirky Mobile Phone Jobs
With all of the money that’s being sucked out of you from your cell phone company, you deserve to earn some cash back using your mobile device. You can do things like testing out phone apps, mystery shopping or even taking pictures. And you won’t even need to have a smartphone to do these jobs. A simple camera phone that is capable of going on the Internet is good enough.
Online Rewards is Just as Good as Cash
If you have accounts with various companies, you can sign up for online rewards programs, where all you have to do is use their online service, such as Bing, and earn points that can be used to purchase things online. These only take a few minutes of your time and you can sometimes get redeemable cash rewards.
Doing One-Time Online Gigs
Web sites like Fiverr allow you to create online profiles that showcase skills you have and jobs you’re willing to do. You can then search for micro-jobs like transcribing someone’s file, proofreading an article or writing a business report. The whole idea is to do it fast and cheap. In most cases, you can earn between $5 and $50 for a job that usually takes less than an hour to complete.
Offer Your Skills to the Public for Part-Time Income
If you’re looking to earn a bit more cash than for a latte at Starbucks, you should consider selling your services for supplemental cash. This way, you’re in charge of how much you earn and what types of work you’ll be conducting. If you can gain enough clients, you could potentially have a flow of income. Some of the skills you can offer include:
- Web design
- Freelance writing or editing
- Web programming
Open an Online Store or become an Affiliate
If you have things to sell or want to start drop-shipping products to customers, you can open a Web site and starting selling them online. Maybe you have arts and crafts, eBooks or other items that you can sell to earn you passive income. Then there are others who actually use their online blogs to earn money. To do this, you have to generate a certain amount of traffic, so that advertisers will pay you to place their ads on your Web site.
Regarding becoming an affiliate, I created a WordPress Plugin Bundle that helps with this task – it covers affiliate networks like Amazon, eBay, iTunes, Walmart, GearBest, Commission Junction, ClickBank, Envato or AliExpress (and more networks are added to it regularly). Give it a try to earn some easy extra cash!
The Internet has proven to be a great source for earning supplemental income. What type of gigs do you think would interest you? Have you already tried anything?
