1. If you check the ‘broad image search’ checkbox, the plugin will reconfigure its search algorithm and make queries to the royalty free image sites which will match more loosely the articles, importing more image results to them. It will not do multiple queries for images.

2. In my experience, you can try Pixabay, it is offering good results.

To expire only posts, please go to the plugin’s ‘Main Settings’ menu -> set in the ‘Enable Manual Post Expiration For These Post Types’ settings field the following:

This will make the plugin expire only posts (not pages).
