Thanks for stellar support! I was happy to login to WordPress and see it was running your new latest version. I was able to get your API easily, too, and all is running well now. Cheers and thanks – appreciated … looks like you’ve put lots of hours in to all this!

Hello,
The plugin was not posting because you set in ‘Main Settings’ -> ‘Required Words List’ -> aged care.
This made the plugin skip all articles that do not contain these specific words in all articles it tried to import (all were skipped).
I deleted this, now it is posted again.
Regarding the ABC News (AU) issue, I fixed it in plugin update v3.0.0.2, please check.
Regards.

Hey Szabi,
Thanks for expert assistance! Yikes, you spotted my mistake better than me. Thanks for fixing that in main settings.
Thanks also for updating my plugin to v3.0.0.2
For source, I am now working with ANY, but if I choose to select a specific source such as ABC Australia, it does save – awesome.
At this stage, I still get yellow diamonds. It may need some more time for new news to be forthcoming. If you don’t mind, I’ll circle back to you if I’m still stuck later this week.
Thanks for everything,
David.

Yes, please allow the API to get more news that can be imported.
Also, yes, sure, let me know if you have further issues.

Hello,
The API imported the articles that are not related to aged care, because the “aged care” string was found in the article content (in a different context).
Example:
Andy Murray says he is serving at full throttle again as he bids to rebuild his injury-ravaged career when tennis returns after the Covid-19 shutdown.
As seen in the above example, the aged care string is found in the content.
You can try using queries to except other words that contain the “aged” string. Example:
aged care -ravaged -career –

G’day and thanks for tip Szabi!
That’s a thorough crawl the API performs and does make perfect sense.
I guess one thing I don’t understand is why the API gets out-of-context articles (4) but not so many in-context articles (1). In Australia right now for the nominated news sites and my various search words, there’s endless news that we’d love the API to get, but the API isn’t picking these up. Is there some other trick I’m overlooking?
Thank-you and regards,
David.

I understand.
Well, the case might be that the news sources that you would like to be used in the API are missing right now from it.
Please send me a list of websites from where you wish to get content, and I will check them and add them to the API if they are not already added to it. Just drop the site links you would prefer having in the plugin and I will do the rest.
Regards.

That’s amazing of your, Szabi. Big thanks! The #1 website I’d like to be getting aged care content from is the Australian public broadcaster. It’s not commercial, very reliable journalism, and with no ads:
If ABC would work, then I wouldn’t ask for any other sources.
Big thanks again, feeling hopeful, cheers, David.

July 22, 2020 at 1:28 pm #1813
Sure, I added abc.net.au to the API now.
Regards.

July 22, 2020 at 2:07 pm #1814
Great stuff. Thank-you! Now should I delete out my unique Custom News To Post settings and start again, or just delete the irrelevant ones (ie. settings long related to ABC Australia)? Thanks Szabi.
-
July 22, 2020 at 3:16 pm #1815
I think just the irrelevant ones are enough to be deleted.
-
July 23, 2020 at 1:01 pm #1818
Thanks for tip. Done and time to sit back let API do its magic. But quick question – to best avoid the ‘ravaged career’ thing, would your search query be: aged AND care … or … “aged care”
I feel like trying the AND approach.
Your thoughts? Cheers thanks again Szabi.
-
July 23, 2020 at 1:10 pm #1819
The best way to do this in the current API version is leaving by default:
aged care
(without AND).
Regards.

Thanks for this guidance Szabi – done.
40-ish hours later, I’m still not having any luck.
Do you think the following settings are correct for my goal?
<u>Main Settings
</u>Tick – Show Extended Item Information Metabox in Post
Tick – Use Original Post Content For Posts That Don’t Match Defined Importing HTML Class/ID
Tick – Strip Links From Generated Post Content<span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>Custom News To Post</span>
Tick – Try to Get Full Article Content
Blank – Select a percentage of the grabbed content that will be included in the article. This is useful when the author states that you can legally get up to 25% of the full article. To disable this feature, leave this field blank.
Feature Disabled – Source Article EncodingThanks and regards,
David.

Hello,
Yes, these settings seem to be correct.
Can you tell me, please, what did not work for you using these settings? Please send me also some example URLs, so I can check them.
I checked and I still have admin access to your site so I can check there directly.
Regards.

Thanks Szabi. With those settings correct, I reckon we’re close to a solution now. Yep, feel free to check directly in those site with credentials given 🙂
Articles that I <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>would have liked</span> the updated API Plugin to pickup:
— Ultimately all these (tag/topic) stories: https://www.abc.net.au/news/topic/aged-care
—— Or such as these three:
If it helps, here are 2 of dozens of articles the old API picked up:
– https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-05-04/coronavirus-tasmania-aged-care-restrictions-easing/12210810
Thanks for solid support Szabi. Cheers, D.

Hello,
On the source site, I see listed these feed sources (grouped by categories): https://www.abc.net.au/news/rural/rss/
Can you tell me, please, if the articles you wish to import can be found in any of the feeds listed on this page?
Regards.
-
July 25, 2020 at 2:31 pm #1830
G’day, that rural link is cool but about farming/agriculture. I did some digging on ABC News Australia for the Aged Care RSS feed and found this:
https://www.abc.net.au/news/feed/1000/rss.xml
It look very very topic specific – containing the exact articles I’d like to import. Can this help?
Regards
Thanks
-
July 25, 2020 at 3:41 pm #1831
Ok, articles should be more specific to your needs in the coming days, please check.

Hi Szabi, hope I’m not jumping the gun but I can’t see in Main Settings or Custom News To Post settings where your RSS setting has been applied. In the log, now news posts fetched yet. Am I asking too soon or has a setting been missed? Thanks and regards, so keen for outcome. Cheers, David.

Hello,
I checked the plugin on your site and the Abc.net.au site appeared in it’s settings: https://www.agepass.com.au/wp-admin/admin.php?page=newsomatic_all_panel
Also, I installed an RSS feed importer plugin similar to Newsomatic, it can be configured to import content from the source feed: https://www.agepass.com.au/wp-admin/admin.php?page=echo_items_panel – you can use it free of charge, just to be sure the content you wish to import, gets imported to your site.
I hope this helps.
Regards.

Hey Szabi,
I’m absolutely stoked! News0matic at that domain picked up a stack of extremely relevant articles without the query string.
Then I configured Echo (thanks so much for the generous use of your clever creation!) and it picked up great articles too, including some I hadn’t seen before.
A better than great outcome.
Sincere thanks for everything :)) :)) :))

I am happy to hear this.
If you enjoy it, please give the plugin a rating on CodeCanyon, it is really appreciated. 🙂

Hi Szabi,
Did you receive my note above?
I’m sure it’s the most minor setting I need to change, so would be grateful for your expertise.
Thanks and regards, David.

Hello,
Sorry, it is my mistake, I replied to the wrong email when I checked it. Please check it below:
Hello,I checked the ‘Try to Get Full Article Content’ checkbox in importing rule settings, this will allow the plugin to get more content. Also, activated the Echo for you, you will also get updates for it.Regards,Szabi – CodeRevolution. -
