Hi. I managed to create all rss feeds I needed with CCRF and put them all in Blogtrottr (it’s a web platform that send emails every time there’s a new item published in a rss feed).
Today I checked my email and found out I didn’t get any message related to all rss feed created with CCRF. I went to check and I saw all feed return a “304 Not Modified” message (but I know feeds in CCRF have been updated).
Do you know why or what the problem is?
      Thanks in advance

      Hi,

      Thanks for the details.

The feeds are updating, Blogtrottr just isn’t seeing it. WordPress sends a 304 when it thinks nothing changed, based on your last regular blog post, not on CCRF updates. So Blogtrottr skips downloading the feed even though the items are new.

That’s why the feed looks fine in the browser, but Blogtrottr keeps getting “304 Not Modified”.

      Quick things to try:

exclude your feed URLs from any cache (Cloudflare, caching plugin, host cache)
open the feed in a private window to confirm the new items are there
in Blogtrottr, remove and re-add one feed (or add ?v=2 to the URL once) so it does a fresh fetch
I’ll also look at fixing this in the plugin so 304 is based on the actual CCRF feed update, not WordPress posts. I should release an update with this, soon.

      Thanks,

      Hi Szabi.
Well, it’s a clean WP installation and there’s no cache plugin; neither I use Cloudflare. I’ve checked on the host side and there’s no cache management tool or section (it’s a very basic CPanel).
Then I can confirm new items are in the feed xml file
Then I’ve tried to delete and re-add but it doesnt work.
And I’ve tried to add ?v=2 ( https://domain.tld/?feed=6a847e6d42841?v=2 ) but the feed gives me an error. Is that the correct URL syntax?

Well, good news you are updating your plugin. Thanks for that.
      Regards
